As the end of the year approaches we wanted to sincerely express our deepedt gratitude to those of you who have supported our research. Thanks to private giving this has been one of the most productive years ever for our pancreatic cancer research team. To give just one example, thanks to your generous support we were able to discover a gene (called PalB2) responsible for some of the cases of familial pancreatic cancer. Scientists at Johns Hopkins are now developing new therapeutic approaches to target this gene specifically. Gene-specific therapy if you will!
Importantly, we have also used your support to hire summer students and fellows (trainees who have completed an advanced degree). These young scientists are our future and, simply put, your generosity has had a significant impact on their careers. We believe they are the future of the war against pancreatic cancer.
As January 1st approaches many of you are considering year-end donations for tax purposes. We sincerely thank you for your past support and ask you to consider pancreatic cancer research at Johns Hopkins. For more information visit:

My boyfriend, Adrian, is being treated at M D Anderson, not JHU, and they do a wonderful job but your Pancreatic Cancer Chat Board is the best there is and I would have never survived as a caretaker without the advice and help and moral support I’ve gotten there. There’s nothing that helps as much as having others who are on the same road stand with you and cheer or cry and help. Anyway, I’m not working and can’t give much but I want you to know how much you’ve helped me by sponsoring the PC Chat Board….and special thanks to Dr. Hruban, who we don’t see much, but somehow it always makes me feel good to know he visits.
I fully support your mission. I have had to many people in my life effected by this horrific condition.
My family has lost 2 aunts (paternal) to pancreatic cancer, one 20+ years ago, and the other a week ago. I want to thank all of you at Johns Hopkins for researching this dreadful disease.
I will do whatever I can to help continue funding for research.
Gratefully,
Carolina
My wife was treated at Brittonfield Oncology in Syracuse and was told to be treated there as the treatment would be the same no matter where it was preformed. 8 months ago she was found to have stage 2 pancreatic cancer near the head. I believe she would have been the perfect patient for the whipple surgery but the Doctors said removal of 80% of the pancreas and radiation with Chemo was best. They gave her 3 to 5 years which is a lie. I suggested another option, ala and low dose naltrexone but they discouraged us as they acted like they knew what they were doing and we trusted their opinion. The tumor markers kept going up and they said scans showed tumors in several organs but dismissed it to Sacoidosis from the past. We should have not trusted them and gone here or to Dr. Berkson. She died a terrible death 8 months later.
Do any Doctors support LDN research there? If not when? What will it take to get research on this treatment which help the patient as Chemo does not work. Why would they give her Chemo when any Oncologist would not do it themselves or to a loved one. The public is seeing the big picture and its all about the money. I would love a response to this.

Great cause! I know many friends of mine have had friends and family affected by pancreatic cancer and I appreciate what you’re doing!
