Greg Gerhardt – Now Officially Retired!

Taking an ”early” retirement after 39 years of dedicated service to the Chemistry Lab, the Hospital, and to this great Institution, Greg Gerhardt’s final day of work was on Friday, October 31, 2014.

Tributes to Greg over the past month came from scores of people, and everyone agreed that he will be sorely missed.   In addition to a Core Lab farewell luncheon and a reception in the Baldwin Parlor, a special surprise dinner at Mountain Branch in Joppa was planned by Jane Tolentino for November 14. When he walked in the private dining room, it was evident that Greg was very surprised, astonished and also very happy! Greg even revealed he had a disturbing dream that he was not in fact retired but was going to be required to take a new project manager position at Johns Hopkins (bet he was relieved when he woke up), that he’s now cooking–and even baked his first lasagna, and is doing a lot of catching up!

Accompanied by his wife, Julie, who had to plead with him to go out that evening, Greg was able to spend lots of time with the guests who included other Chem Lab retirees, including Inge, Mary Jo, Chris and Bill, Al, Emmer and Ginny.   A merry time was had by all! Great food, company, and plenty of fun with our smartphone photo-takers and subjects!

Congratulations, Greg, and best wishes for happiness and good health from each and every one of your coworkers, the faculty, and staff you have worked with over the years!   All of us are so grateful to have had the opportunity to work for you or with you, and we wish you all the best in life!!!
